Apothecary cabinet

Lombardy
19th century, Partially carved, painted, and gilded walnut wood

This apothecary cabinet, now used as a bookcase, made of carved, painted and gilded walnut wood, was undoubtedly made in Lombardy. The lower part alternates between drawers and doors, while the upper part consists of panels with glass doors interspersed with neoclassical columns. The plaques at the top contain the names of doctors and scientists of the past and refer to the products offered in the pharmacy. It was possible to access the back of the pharmacy, where medicinal products were kept, through the two side doors in the centre of the cabinet.
