Tallone Library

Alberto Tallone (1898-1968)
20th century

The apothecary's cabinet houses the precious collection of books by the publisher Alberto Tallone (Bergamo, 1898–Alpignano, 1968). Tallone was a true ‘architect’ of books: all of his books were handmade with great care, and he always determined not only the specific subject (he published reprints of great classics), but also the paper, typeface, layout, and format, starting from scratch for each volume. There is no common thread throughout the editions and there are no series, although they are all characterised by harmony and elegance. Tallone’s sons, Enrico and Aldo, who share their father’s love of graphics, began printing in an expanded workshop in 1975. Tallone Library
